Two related, free options in Settings > General make Klass-RM Uploader easier to keep around in the background on your Mac. Both are off by default.
Keep running in the menu bar
By default, closing the main window quits Klass-RM Uploader. Turn on Keep running in the menu bar and closing the window no longer quits the app - a menu bar icon appears instead, and uploads keep draining, watched folders keep watching, and Calendar Sync and Note Sync keep syncing in the background.
The menu bar item's own menu is deliberately small:
- A status line - Uploading, Idle, or Not paired
- Open Klass-RM Uploader
- Upload PDFs or Images... - a native file picker that enqueues directly, even with no window open
- Upload Web Page... and Convert EPUB to PDF...
- Browse reMarkable Files... and Backups...
- Sync Planners Now
- A toggle to show or hide the floating drop window (see below)
- Settings... and Quit
Anything that needs real UI - sign-in, connecting an account, the Word Document import sheet, conversion settings - opens the main window or Settings rather than being reproduced in this menu.
A Dock click always reopens the main window, even with zero windows currently open.
The floating drop window
Turn on Show the floating drop window and a small, always-on-top "droplet" window appears that stays above your other apps. Drag PDFs, images, EPUBs, text/Markdown files, or folders onto it to send them straight to your reMarkable using your saved default format and destination folder - without bringing the main window forward. Click the droplet to open the main window.
It works best paired with Menu Bar Mode, so it stays reachable even with no window open. You can also toggle it from the menu bar menu described above - that's a second way to reach the same setting, not a second capability.
If you have not paired your reMarkable yet, the droplet shows its own "Connect your reMarkable to send files" message and a Connect button instead of silently queuing a drop with no feedback.
A folder dropped on the droplet follows the same rule as any other local folder upload - Pro users get the folder structure mirrored on the reMarkable, free users get the files uploaded flat. If you have not yet seen the one-time notice explaining that folder mirroring is a Pro feature, dropping a folder on the droplet bounces you to the main window so that notice can show there instead.
Closing the droplet's own close button turns the Settings toggle back off.
