Signing in to your reMarkable account
Klass-RM Uploader connects to your existing reMarkable account - the same account you use at my.remarkable.com or in the official reMarkable app. You do not create a new account for this app.
To sign in:
- Open Klass-RM Uploader.
- If you are not signed in, you will see a Sign In to reMarkable button in the account bar at the top of the screen.
- Tap that button. A sign-in window opens.
- Enter your reMarkable email address and password.
- Once signed in, the account bar shows your email address and your account tier (Free or Connect).
Signing in is optional - you can explore the app without signing in. But uploads will not start until you sign in.
Signing out
To sign out of your reMarkable account:
- On Mac: go to the File menu and choose Sign Out, or click your email address in the account bar.
- On iPhone/iPad: go to the Settings tab and tap Sign Out.
Signing out does not delete your upload history or any settings. You can sign back in at any time.
Free vs. Connect: what the account tiers mean
When you sign in, the account bar shows whether your reMarkable account is on the Free tier or the Connect tier. These refer to your reMarkable subscription, not anything specific to this app.
- Free - The standard reMarkable account with no paid subscription. The vast majority of Klass-RM Uploader's features work fine on a free account.
- Connect - reMarkable's paid cloud subscription. The only feature in this app that requires Connect is converting uploads to editable reMarkable Notebooks. Everything else works without it.
If you just upgraded to Connect
If you recently upgraded your reMarkable account to Connect but the app still shows Free:
- Find the Refresh button in the account bar.
- Tap it. The app silently re-checks your account status.
- The tier display updates to Connect without you having to sign out and back in.
If the refresh fails (for example, you have no internet connection), an alert appears and your session stays intact. Try again when you have a connection.
Pro license vs. reMarkable account tier
These are two completely separate things:
- Klass-RM Uploader Pro license - a license key you buy for this app. Unlocks advanced features in Klass-RM Uploader. See the Pro License page.
- reMarkable Connect subscription - a subscription you buy from reMarkable. Required only if you want to convert uploads to editable Notebooks.
You can have one, both, or neither. Most features only need the app license - they work fine on a free reMarkable account.
Settings (Mac)
On Mac, open Settings from the app menu (or press Command + comma) to find these options:
Conversion settings
- Large-file optimization - choose whether to automatically shrink large PDFs before uploading. Set the size threshold (25 MB to 500 MB, default 100 MB) and quality preset (High, Balanced, or Small). See the Large-File Optimization page for details.
- Document quality - the quality preset for documents that get re-encoded (High, Balanced, or Small).
- Comic quality - a separate quality preset just for comic archive conversions.
- Grayscale - convert color documents to grayscale before uploading. Smaller files, and often looks better on the e-ink display.
- Flatten - flatten PDF layers and annotations before uploading.
- Split large files - if a file is still too large after re-encoding, split it into multiple parts.
History retention
Choose how long completed upload records are kept in the queue. Options: 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, or indefinitely.
Analytics
Toggle anonymous usage data collection on or off. This is off by default. No files, document names, or personal information are ever included.
Update check
Toggle the daily automatic update check on or off. When on, the app checks once a day for a new version of Klass-RM Uploader and shows a notice if one is available. You can also trigger a manual check from the app menu at any time.
Settings (iPhone/iPad)
On iPhone and iPad, tap the Settings tab to find:
- Sign out - signs you out of your reMarkable account.
- Analytics - toggle anonymous usage data on or off.
- Pro license - view your license status or enter a license key.
- Help - opens in-app help.
- Contact support - opens the support form.
In-app help and support
- Help: Tap or click the Help button (the question mark icon) from anywhere in the app. This opens an offline help guide with getting-started information and frequently asked questions. A link at the bottom opens the full documentation at klasspaperless.com.
- Contact support: From the Help screen, tap Contact Support to open a support form where you can describe your issue. The form automatically includes your app version and platform so the support team can help faster.
