This is a different tool from the PDF/ePub-vs-Notebook format selector described on the Choosing a Format page. Instead of uploading an EPUB as a reflowable document, this converts it into a device-sized, fixed-layout PDF that reads like a real ebook - a cover page, a title page, chapter sections that start fresh, and proper book-style typesetting.
Requires a Klass-RM Uploader Pro license. A reMarkable Connect subscription is not required - this is local rendering, not a server-side conversion. Available on Mac and iOS/iPadOS.
Converting an EPUB
- Choose Convert EPUB to PDF... (Mac File menu or main-window toolbar; iOS/iPadOS toolbar or overflow menu).
- Pick the
.epubfile you want to convert. - Adjust settings if you like (see below), or load a saved profile.
- Preview, then convert and upload.
This is not available from either share extension, watched folders, or the Advanced API/MCP Server - those always upload an EPUB as-is (or Notebook, with Connect). Watched Folders has its own separate, automatic per-folder EPUB-to-PDF option - see the Watched Folders page.
Settings
All settings are remembered across launches.
- Device - reMarkable 2/Pure, Paper Pro, or Paper Pro Move. Sets the page size.
- Font - Avenir, Baskerville, Figtree, OpenDyslexic, or American Typewriter.
- Text size - Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large, expressed as a real point size per device so it looks the same physical size no matter which reMarkable you target.
- Paragraph style - indented "book" style (the default) or the original spaced "web" style from the EPUB.
- Margins - left, right, top, and bottom, each independently configurable.
- Line spacing - a multiplier on the default line height.
- Include cover page and include title page - toggle each on or off.
- Start sections on a new page - each chapter begins on a fresh page when on.
- PDF bookmarks (on by default) - a native PDF outline built from the book's chapter headings, visible in any PDF reader's table-of-contents sidebar, including your reMarkable's own.
- Table of contents page (on by default) - an optional, hyperlinked "Contents" page listing headings down to a chosen depth. Every row jumps straight to that heading. Doubles render time when enabled.
Saved settings profiles
Save your current settings as a named profile, switch between saved profiles, and rename, update, or delete them from a kebab menu - like a Handbrake-style preset picker. You can save up to 50 profiles.
This is separate from the app just remembering your last-used settings - a profile is something you name and reuse deliberately. The same profile picker also appears in the Word Documents import sheet's PDF-output form, so a profile you build here (including its top/bottom margins) can be applied to a Word document conversion too.
What this does not do
- It does not touch PDFs - only EPUBs. A PDF always uploads as a PDF.
- It is not the same as Notebook conversion (Choosing a Format page) - the output here is a plain PDF, not an editable notebook.
- It is not available on visionOS, from either share extension, or from watched folders (which has its own separate toggle - see the Watched Folders page).
Free vs. Pro
Without a Pro license, the settings sheet is shown locked with a disabled Convert button and a shortcut to enter a license key. With Pro, everything above is available. reMarkable Connect is never required for this feature.
