Calendar Planner Sync generates a full-featured daily planner from your calendar and keeps it updated on your reMarkable tablet - automatically, while preserving everything you have handwritten on it. It combines the structure of a printed planner with the flexibility of a digital one.
This feature requires a Klass-RM Uploader Pro license. It is Mac-only.
A reMarkable Connect subscription is not required for the planner itself. The only planner element that requires Connect is the optional sticker pages.
What the planner looks like
The planner is a multi-page PDF uploaded to your reMarkable. It is structured like a physical planner:
- Cover page - title, year, and month index with clickable links.
- Year overview - a birds-eye view of the whole year (reMarkable 2/Pure only).
- Quarter pages - three monthly mini-calendars with a notes area.
- Month pages - full-page monthly calendar with event summaries.
- Week pages - weekly overview with all events at a glance.
- Day pages - hour-by-hour grid for each day, with overlapping events shown side-by-side.
- Per-event note pages - blank pages for handwritten notes, one per event.
- Contact index - everyone who appears in your events, with their details and a link to their event pages.
- Task pages (optional) - to-do checklists and repeating-task grids inserted after each period.
- Sticker pages (optional, requires Connect) - your sticker packs, displayed as movable sticker objects.
The whole planner links together. Tap any month on the cover, any week in the month view, any day in the week view, and you jump straight there.
One-time setup: connecting your reMarkable device
The Calendar Planner uses a different connection method than the regular upload feature. While uploads use your reMarkable account login, in-place planner updates use a direct device connection (called "pairing") that allows the app to update an existing document on your tablet.
You only need to do this once.
- On your Mac, open Klass-RM Uploader.
- Go to the Calendar Sync tab.
- Click Connect Device (or look for the pairing section).
- On your computer, open a web browser and go to my.remarkable.com.
- Log in and navigate to Settings > Connect your device.
- You will see an 8-character pairing code on that page.
- Enter that code into Klass-RM Uploader and click Pair.
- The app connects to your device. You will see a "Connected" status in the Calendar Sync tab.
This pairing is shared with the Obsidian Note Sync feature - if you set up one, you do not need to pair again for the other.
Creating a planner
- Go to the Calendar Sync tab.
- Click the + button to add a new planner.
- Give the planner a name (this is what appears on the cover and in your reMarkable library).
- Choose your settings (see below).
- Click Create (or Preview first to see what it will look like).
- The planner generates and uploads to your reMarkable.
Choosing which calendar to use
The planner can pull events from several sources. You can combine any of them:
Mac Calendar (via EventKit)
Pulls events from all calendars in your Mac's Calendar app - including iCloud, Google, Exchange, and subscribed calendar feeds. You choose which calendars to include.
- In the planner settings, find Calendars.
- Click Add Calendar Source > Mac Calendar.
- Grant Calendar access when macOS asks.
- Check or uncheck individual calendars to include or exclude.
Each calendar's events are color-coded with that calendar's color in the planner.
ICS feed URL
Subscribe to any calendar published as an .ics or webcal:// URL (for example, a public holiday calendar, a sports team schedule, or a school calendar).
- Click Add Calendar Source > ICS Feed URL.
- Paste the URL.
- Set how often the feed refreshes (off, or every 30 minutes to once daily).
CalDAV account
Connect a calendar from iCloud, Fastmail, Nextcloud, Yahoo, Zoho, or any standard CalDAV server.
- Click Add Calendar Source > CalDAV Account.
- Choose a preset (iCloud, Fastmail, etc.) or choose Other and enter the server URL.
- Enter your username and an app-specific password (not your main password - generate one in your provider's account settings). The password is saved only in your Mac's Keychain.
- The app discovers your calendars. Check the ones to include.
Microsoft 365 personal account
Connect a personal Microsoft account (Outlook.com or Hotmail).
- Click Add Calendar Source > Microsoft 365.
- A Microsoft sign-in window opens. Sign in with your personal Microsoft account.
- The app lists your calendars. Check the ones to include.
- Optionally, also pull contacts from this account for the contact index.
Note: Work and school Microsoft accounts are not yet supported.
Google account
Connect a Gmail or Google Workspace account.
- Click Add Calendar Source > Google.
- Your browser opens for Google sign-in.
- Sign in and grant access.
- The app lists your calendars. Check the ones to include.
- Optionally, also pull contacts from this account for the contact index.
Planner settings
Target device
Choose the reMarkable model you use. This sets the page size:
- reMarkable 2 / reMarkable Pure
- reMarkable Paper Pro
- reMarkable Paper Pro Move
Note: The target device, toolbar position, and handedness cannot be changed after the planner is created (changing them would shift or lose your handwriting). Choose carefully when creating.
Start date and coverage
- Start date: The first date the planner covers. Defaults to the first of the current month.
- Coverage window: How far ahead the planner extends. Options: 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, or 1 year (capped at about 18 months).
Cover image
Optionally add a background photo to the cover page. The image is automatically downsampled for the reMarkable screen. Your planner title and month index are displayed over it.
Font
Choose the typeface used throughout the planner:
- Avenir - modern, clean sans-serif.
- Baskerville - elegant serif.
- Figtree - friendly rounded sans-serif.
- OpenDyslexic - designed for readers with dyslexia.
- American Typewriter - monospaced typewriter style.
Text size
Small, Medium, or Large. Medium is the default.
Handedness
Left or Right. Reserves the bottom corner on the corresponding side so your writing hand does not cover navigation buttons.
Toolbar position
Adds a row of month-jump buttons along one edge of every page (None, Top, Left, or Right). Color-coded by month so you can jump to any month directly. Cannot be on the same side as your writing hand.
Date and time format
- US vs. non-US: Month-first (12/31) or day-first (31/12) date order.
- 12 vs. 24-hour time: 2:30 PM or 14:30.
- Week start: Sunday or Monday.
Contact index
The contact index appears at the end of the planner. It lists everyone who appears in your events, with clickable links from each event to that person's contact page.
Toggle this on or off. When on:
- Contact sources: The index can pull in contact details (photo, organization, phone, email, address) from your Mac Contacts app, CalDAV accounts, Microsoft 365, or Google. Enable the sources you want.
- Max contacts: If your events involve many people, cap the index at 200 to 1000 contacts (busiest contacts kept).
- Name order: First Last or Last, First.
- Exclusion list: Enter names or email addresses (one per line) to exclude from the index - useful for excluding yourself.
Contact photos appear in color. Handwriting on a contact's page is preserved even if that person is later removed from your address book.
Task pages
Task pages are optional blank templates inserted after each period (quarter, month, week) for handwritten task management:
- To-do checklist: Ruled rows with empty checkboxes.
- Repeating task grid: A column of task names next to a grid of periods (the week's 7 days, a month's weeks, or a quarter's months) - useful for tracking habits or recurring tasks.
Toggle each on or off per scope (quarterly, monthly, weekly) in the Task Pages settings section.
Sticker pages (requires Connect)
Attach sticker packs to your planner. They appear as dedicated pages at the end, after the contact index. See the Sticker Packs page for details on creating sticker packs.
Requires a reMarkable Connect subscription. If your Connect subscription lapses, sticker pages are automatically removed from the next planner sync.
How syncing works
After the planner is created, it stays on your reMarkable and updates itself as your calendar changes.
The planner syncs automatically when:
- Your Mac Calendar detects a change in your events.
- The date changes (the "today" marker always stays current).
- You click Sync Now in the Calendar Sync tab.
When it syncs:
- The app reads your calendar events from all connected sources.
- It regenerates the planner PDF.
- It compares the new PDF against what is already on your reMarkable.
- Only the changed pages are updated. Unchanged pages are left alone.
Your handwriting is preserved. Ink on planner pages stays exactly where you wrote it, even as the planner regenerates around it. The only pages that carry a "do not write here" notice are the contact index pages and the alphabetical index, which may reflow when contact information changes.
Editing a planner
To change a planner's settings after it has been created:
- Go to the Calendar Sync tab.
- Click the planner in the list.
- Click Edit.
Most settings can be changed at any time. The following cannot be changed after creation (because doing so would shift or lose handwriting):
- Target device
- Toolbar position
- Handedness
- Week start day
You cannot edit a planner while a sync is running.
Removing a planner
To remove a planner:
- Go to the Calendar Sync tab.
- Click the planner.
- Click Remove.
The planner document is not deleted from your reMarkable. It stays there - the app just stops syncing it.
What the sync status shows
Each planner in the Calendar Sync list shows:
- Last synced date - when the planner was last updated.
- PDF size - how large the current version of the planner is.
- Progress bars - during a sync, each step is shown: reading calendars, fetching feeds, generating, preparing, uploading.
Troubleshooting
The planner is not syncing:
- Check that the app is open. Syncs only happen while Klass-RM Uploader is running.
- Check the Calendar Sync tab for error messages.
- Make sure your device is still paired. If the pairing expired, follow the setup steps again.
My handwriting disappeared:
- Handwriting is preserved on stable pages. If a page's content significantly changed in length, ink may have shifted. This is expected on pages that reflow (like contact index pages marked "do not write here").
- Cloned pages (pages you duplicated on the tablet) are detected and preserved.
Events from a calendar are missing:
- Check that the calendar is checked in the planner's calendar source settings.
- If it is a remote calendar (CalDAV, ICS, Microsoft, Google), check your connection settings and try syncing manually.
