Choosing a Destination Folder (Pro)

By default, every file you upload goes to the top level of your reMarkable library - the main screen you see when you turn on your tablet. With a Pro license, you can choose exactly which folder each upload lands in, just like organizing files on your computer.

This feature requires a Klass-RM Uploader Pro license. It does not require a reMarkable Connect subscription. It works on free reMarkable accounts.

What you can do

  • Pick any existing folder in your reMarkable library as the upload destination.
  • Create a new folder on the fly while choosing a destination.
  • Set a different destination for each upload, or use the same folder every time.
  • Set per-folder destinations in Watched Folders (each watched folder can have its own target).

Choosing a folder before uploading

When you drag files, use the file picker, or open the share extension, an Upload to row appears below the format picker.

  1. Click or tap Upload to.
  2. The folder picker opens, showing your reMarkable folder tree.
  3. Navigate the tree to find the folder you want.
  4. Tap or click the folder to select it.
  5. The folder picker closes and the Upload to row now shows the folder you chose.
  6. Proceed with the upload as normal.

The folder you chose is remembered for your next upload.

Creating a new folder while picking

If the folder you want does not exist yet:

  1. Open the folder picker as described above.
  2. Navigate to where you want the new folder to live (for example, inside an existing folder, or at the top level).
  3. Click or tap New Folder.
  4. Type the name of the new folder and confirm.
  5. The new folder is created on your reMarkable and selected as the destination.

What free users see

If you do not have a Pro license, the Upload to row is visible but disabled. It shows a Top Level - Pro label. Your uploads will always go to the top level of your reMarkable library. Upgrading to Pro unlocks the folder picker.

Uploading a local folder (Pro)

When you upload an entire folder from your computer, Pro users get the folder structure recreated on the reMarkable. If your local folder contains subfolders, those subfolders are created (or reused if they already exist by the same name) on the reMarkable.

Free users uploading a folder get all files uploaded to the top level, without any subfolders. The app shows a notice the first time this happens.

Destination folders in the share extension

The folder picker is also available in the iOS and macOS share extensions. When the share panel opens, tap or click Upload to to choose a destination folder before uploading.

Destination folders in the Print helper

The print helper also respects the destination folder setting. If you have a Pro license, printed documents can be sent to a specific folder. If no specific folder is set, the document goes to the top level.

Destination folders in Watched Folders

Each watched folder can have its own destination on your reMarkable. See the Watched Folders page for details.

What if I delete the destination folder on my reMarkable?

If the folder you set as a destination no longer exists on your reMarkable (because you deleted it), the upload falls back to the top level of your library. You can set a new destination folder at any time.
