The share extension lets you send files and web pages to your reMarkable directly from any app on your iPhone or iPad - Safari, Files, Mail, or anywhere else that has a share button. You do not need to open Klass-RM Uploader first.
What you can share
- PDFs
- Images (JPG, PNG, and others)
- EPUB files
- Text files (.txt)
- Markdown files (.md, .markdown)
- Web page URLs (the app fetches and cleans up the article)
Enabling the share extension
The first time you try to use the share extension, you may need to add it to your share sheet. Here is how:
- Open any app and tap the share button (the box with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll to the right in the top row of apps, then tap More (the three dots, or sometimes labeled Edit).
- In the list of actions that appears, find Klass-RM Uploader and toggle it on.
- Tap Done.
The Klass-RM Uploader icon will now appear in your share sheet.
Sharing a file (for example, a PDF in the Files app)
- In the Files app, tap and hold the PDF you want to send to your reMarkable.
- Tap Share in the menu that appears.
- In the share sheet, tap Klass-RM Uploader.
- A panel appears at the bottom of the screen showing the file name and upload options.
- (Optional) If you have a Pro license, tap the Upload to row to choose a destination folder on your reMarkable. See the Choosing a Destination Folder page.
- (Optional) If you have a Pro license and a Connect subscription, you can switch between PDF/ePub and reMarkable Notebook format using the format selector. See the Choosing a Format page.
- Tap Upload.
- The panel closes and the file uploads in the background. You will see a brief confirmation notice.
Sharing a web page from Safari
- Open the web page you want to read on your reMarkable.
- Tap the share button (the box with an arrow pointing up) in Safari's toolbar.
- Tap Klass-RM Uploader.
- The app fetches the article text from the page, strips out ads and sidebars, and prepares a clean EPUB.
- Tap Upload.
- The article uploads in the background.
Sharing from Mail or other apps
The process is the same in any app:
- Find the file or page you want to share.
- Tap the share button.
- Choose Klass-RM Uploader from the share sheet.
- Configure options if needed.
- Tap Upload.
Sharing from AI chat apps and other dynamic web apps
Some websites and apps - including AI chat tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar services - do not work well with the share extension. These are not traditional web pages; their content is generated on the fly by code running in the browser. There is no static text for the share extension to capture, so you may get a blank or incomplete result.
For these apps on Mac, use Print to reMarkable from the Print dialog instead. On iPhone and iPad, many of these apps offer a built-in Share as PDF or Export option in their own interface - use that to generate a PDF, then share the PDF to Klass-RM Uploader.
The share extension works best with traditional web pages: news articles, blog posts, documentation, and similar content where the text is part of the page itself.
What happens if you are not signed in
If you have not signed in to your reMarkable account in the main app, the share extension will show a notice asking you to sign in first. Open Klass-RM Uploader, sign in, and then try the share again.
Format options in the share extension
When the share panel opens, you may see a format selector:
- PDF/ePub - uploads the file as-is. This is the default and works for everyone.
- reMarkable Notebook - converts the upload to an editable reMarkable Notebook. This requires both a Pro license and a reMarkable Connect subscription. If either is missing, the option is shown but disabled.
PDFs always upload as PDFs regardless of which format you choose. Notebook conversion applies to images, articles, and text/Markdown only.
