Getting Started: First Launch and Setup

This page walks you through everything you need to do the first time you open Klass-RM Uploader. The whole setup takes about two minutes.

What you need before you start

  • A reMarkable tablet (any model)
  • A reMarkable account (the login you use at my.remarkable.com)
  • The Klass-RM Uploader app installed on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac

The first-launch walkthrough

When you open the app for the first time, it walks you through a short setup. Here is what each step does.

Step 1: Welcome

The first screen introduces the app. Tap or click Continue to move on.

Step 2: Sign in to reMarkable (optional)

This step asks you to sign in with your reMarkable account.

  1. Tap Sign In.
  2. A sign-in window opens. Enter your reMarkable email address and password (the same ones you use on my.remarkable.com or the reMarkable app).
  3. Once signed in, you will see your account name and whether your reMarkable account is on the free tier or the paid Connect tier.

You can tap Maybe Later to skip sign-in and start exploring the app first. You can sign in at any time from the main screen. Uploads are paused until you sign in.

Step 3: Enter a Pro license key (optional)

If you have a Klass-RM Uploader Pro license key, enter it here.

  1. Paste your license key into the field and tap Activate.
  2. If you do not have one yet, tap Skip to continue. You can activate a license later from the Settings screen.

See the Pro License page to learn what a Pro license unlocks and how to get one.

Step 4: Analytics (optional)

The app can send anonymous usage data to help improve it. No files, document names, or personal information are ever included.

  • Toggle on if you want to help improve the app.
  • Leave it off if you prefer not to. This is off by default.

You can change this setting at any time in Settings.

Step 5: Daily update check (Mac only)

On Mac, the app can check for new versions once a day and show a notice when one is available. This is on by default.

  • Leave it on to stay up to date automatically.
  • Toggle it off if you would rather check manually.

The app never downloads or installs anything automatically. It only shows a notice with a link to download the new version yourself.

Step 6: Install the print helper (Mac only)

On Mac, the app offers to install a helper that lets you print directly to reMarkable from any application - like printing to a PDF but sending it to your tablet instead.

Tap Set Up Print Helper for step-by-step instructions, or tap Skip to do this later. See the Print to reMarkable page for full details.

Step 7: Accept the terms

Read through the terms of use. Tap I Agree to continue. You cannot use the app without accepting.

Step 8: Done

You are ready to start uploading. The main screen appears and you can start using the app.

After setup: the main screen

The main screen is where all uploads start. Here is what you will see:

  • Account bar at the top - shows your reMarkable email address and account tier (Free or Connect). If you skipped sign-in, a Sign In button appears here.
  • Upload area - on Mac, drag files here or click Upload Files to browse. On iPhone and iPad, use the Upload Files button or the share sheet.
  • Upload queue - shows all current and recent uploads with their status.

Signing in after skipping

If you chose Maybe Later during setup, you can sign in at any time:

  1. On the main screen, tap the Sign In to reMarkable button in the account bar.
  2. A sign-in window opens. Enter your reMarkable email and password.
  3. Once signed in, any uploads that were waiting will start automatically.

What the account tiers mean

When you are signed in, the account bar shows one of two tiers:

  • Free - Your reMarkable account has no Connect subscription. Most features of this app work on a free account. Converting uploads to editable reMarkable Notebooks is the only thing that requires Connect.
  • Connect - Your reMarkable account has the paid Connect subscription. Combined with a Pro license, this unlocks Notebook conversion.

If you recently upgraded to Connect and the app still shows Free, tap Refresh in the account bar to pick up the change.
